I specialize in short-from video advertising and strategic online content strategy. I utilize motion graphics, animation, video production, and photography to tell stories, inspire and educate. I have been intimately involved in every stage of media production from storyboarding to sound design. Having experience and knowledge in all of these disciplines allows me to approach projects in an effective and professional manner. I prefer to be hands-on in the creation process, but I am also comfortable managing large teams from beginning to end. I have worked with both large and small budgets (I know how to scale down, but still achieve professional results). I stay up-to-date with the current visual trends in media production, content creation and equipment.

In addition to my multimedia background, I also have 12 + years of experience as an educator of university level courses. I’m a huge promoter of education, which spills over to my media work. I believe that commercial productions not only need to engage the viewer, but also educate them on the product or service.

  • CONTENT MANAGER AND PRODUCER

Hoyt Archery • 2011 - 2014

My instigation and management of online content strategy resulted in a 22% increase in sales in less than 2 years. I was responsible for all major product release videos, lifestyle images, studio and e-commerce photography, and social-media posts. During my employment I built a state-of-the-art video and photo studio complete with sound proofing and professional lighting. The construction of this studio allowed the majority of previously contracted content creation to be brought in-house. I elevated the brand’s image and brought it into the 21st century by pushing for more presence online. My push eventually led to the construction of a new Website as well as presence on all the major social channels at the time. My work brought the engagement and following of Instagram and Facebook from below 6,000 followers each to over 80,000 each in less than two years. In addition, I also managed all tradeshow visuals and content for print advertising.

My time there was a lesson on management and company culture. It was the major catalyst for me breaking out on my own. I came to realize that the paycheck was not the only factor for working. I needed a work environment that fostered creativity and allowed input from employees across all positions. This learning experience had a major impact on how I manage teams. I believe change and inspiration can come from anyone within the system. I strive to establish a system where input from all members is welcome and taken with respect.

  • PHOTOGRAPHY PROGRAM MANAGER

University of Utah, U-Explore • 2011 - 2018

I taught outdoor-based photography courses for the University of Utah’s Parks and Recreation Department for many years. These courses served as a breath of fresh air, allowing me the opportunity to take students to some remarkable places. The curriculum and teaching style was hands-on, students camped in the field and worked with on-location models, athletes and other students to practice photographic and story-telling techniques. We toured many  Utah State and National Parks, Grand Teton National Park and the local Wasatch Mountains. In addition to teaching intro to photography, I also created a secondary advanced course that dealt heavily with post-production workflow. Many students would take these courses multiple times because it afforded them the opportunity to visit new places and receive critical feedback on their technique in the field as well as post-trip feedback in the computer lab.

• Established teaching material for outdoor based photography courses.

• Managed employee payroll and student safety protocols.

• Established advanced photography courses, including lab curriculum.

• Created seven new class locations.

• Effectively doubled average enrollement over a 6 year period.

  • FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

University of Utah, 2009 - 2011

I was always tired, but loved every moment of teaching fitness courses through the Exercise and Sport Science Fitness program at theUniversity of Utah. I created all curriculum, and educational material for the following courses: Triathlon Training, Marathon Training, Swimming, Stretching for Fitness, and Cycling (spin).

Additionally, I also taught outdoor based Rock and Ice Climbing courses for the Parks and Recreation Department. Through this, I learned how to manage large groups in un-predictable environments, mitigate risk, and encourage and give confidence to those that were unsure of themselves. I applied the same teaching strategy to these courses and I do to my media classes; focus on skills, then practice to achieve fluency.

  • DIVER / ENTERTAINER

Mayan Adventure, 2006 - 2011

I wore a small loin cloth and dove off a large cliff (10 meters) into a pool inside of a restaurant. People watched while eating chips, salsa, and burritos. It didn’t pay much, but damn, it was fun as hell.
